“How would you describe your relationship with your wife, Professor Cutter?” DS McLennan asked.
Nick knew there was nothing to be gained by lying but, however he dressed it up, this wasn’t going to sound good. He finally settled for, “Volatile.”
His solicitor barely suppressed a wince. Maybe honesty hadn’t been such a good idea.
“Had you argued that morning?”
Nick threw caution to the winds. The solictor might as well earn his exorbitant fee. “Yes.”
“What about?”
“Anomalies in the fossil record.”
Nick knew from the look on the copper’s face that he was in for a rough ride.
