“It’s time you went home, Sir James,” Lorraine said quietly.
It was nearly midnight and the mountain of paperwork was now almost under control.
But If her boss was working late, Lorraine preferred to stay behind as well. The job was lonely enough as it was, without burning the midnight oil alone.
When he didn’t reply, she turned around.
Lester was leaning back in his chair, head tilted to one side and snoring gently.
Lorraine draped a cashmere blanket over him and then settled down on his office sofa.
It looked like neither of them would get home that night.

Just as boss/subordinate, but longstanding subordinate, and almost friends except OH GOD NO they would never even THINK of such a thing... but Lester knows what Lorraine's favourite chocolates are and Lorraine is aware of his divorce proceedings and each of them can order the correct takeaway for the other from all the ARC's local (carefully vetted) takeaways. I imagine Blade and Lyle find it vaguely alarming, because fuck knows what the two of them might get up to.
