“Dinosaurs?” The Home Secretary’s voice rose an octave.
“Prehistoric creatures, not dinosaurs.”
The Home Secretary waved an elegant hand. “Yes, yes, we’ve all watched Walking with Dinosaurs. I don’t give a damn what they are; this needs stopping.”
“I’m not sure what jurisdiction we have over rips in time, sir.”
“Since when has that ever stopped us? Who do we have available?”
The Permanent Secretary smiled a particularly vulpine smile. “I believe Sir James Lester is free, Minister.”
The Home Secretary smiled broadly. “Splendid. He has been rather annoying recently, and it is his turn. Call him now.”
“Yes, Minister.”
