Lester closed his laptop. He was due at his youngest daughter’s school play that evening and couldn’t be late.

He’d missed too many milestones in her young life… first smile, first word, first steps. The list was endless. It had been the same for all his children. The job had always come first. That was why his wife had left him for another man.

In the carpark, Lester’s eyes were drawn to the neighbouring parking space bearing the name of someone who was never far from his thoughts.

Danny Quinn.

The space would be there for him when he returned.
