“All very impressive, James.”
“Thank you, Minister.”
So far, the Minister hadn’t tripped over any trailing cables, nothing had escaped from the menagerie, the military contingent had remained out of earshot, and even Cutter had behaved like a relatively normal human being.
In the control room, Connor was at work constructing something large and complicated. The Minister wisely did not engage him in conversation.
As they avoided Connor, there was a loud ping and something shot past the Minister’s left ear.
“I see spring is in the air,” Lester commented as one bounced across the floor.
The Minister was unamused.
