Jess’s nose twitched as they walked up the stairs to the flat.

Becker didn’t tell her that his sisters’ guinea pig had twitched its nose just like that.

He wasn’t great at the whole boyfriend thing but he did know she wouldn’t like being compared to a guinea pig.

Jess opened the door.

Becker grabbed the fire extinguisher and headed to the oven.

“It’ll be fine. My mum’s always doing this to her big orange casserole. Let it cool down and I’ll scrub it tomorrow.”

Her face lit up.

Maybe he wasn’t too bad at the boyfriend thing after all.
