The bulbous purple flower hung heavily from a thin stalk, seemingly defying gravity by not just dropping to the ground.
Connor reached out with one gloved hand, his index finger poised to deliver an experimental poke.
Abby slapped his hand away. “I don’t think you should touch that.”
A delighted grin spread across Connor’s face. “Do you think we’ll end up sleeping together if we get a whiff of the pollen?”
“You’ve been watching too many daft films.”
“So why can’t I touch it?”
“Finn gets hay fever.”
Finn sniffed loudly. “And I came out without a clean hanky, miss!”
