“The Foreign Secretary for you, Sir James.” Lorraine kept a commendably straight face when announcing the biggest buffoons ever to grace, or rather disgrace, his office.
Lester had little tolerance for politicians in general and none for that particular one.
“The French want to discuss the anomalies. I can’t fob them off any longer.”
“How splendid.”
“You’ll see them?”
“Of course, Foreign Secretary. It’ll be a pleasure.”
“Don’t tell them anything they don’t already know.” The call ended abruptly.
Lester smiled and took out his own phone. If he was lucky, the delectable Captain Palliere would be free for dinner.
