“Gonna be late, mum!” Eddie called. “C’mon!
“Where the hell’s that USB stick? I need it for my presentation.”
Eddie rolled his eyes. He was 15. He was the kid, not her. “In your black handbag.”
She came flying out of the house, all perfume and apologies.
They piled in the car and hit the road.
Ten minutes later, they were stuck in traffic on the motorway.
“My boss will murder me…”
“Teachers won’t be too pleased with me.”
Then they saw the mammoth.
Eddie grabbed his phone. He needed evidence this time, not just another excuse.
They both did.
