Today’s arrival looked like an overgrown swan sporting an elongated neck, bright green feathers and short, stubby wings. What  it lacked in grace, it compensated for with persistence and beady-eyed, bloody-minded ferocity.

It had caused mayhem in a public park.  It liked bread but didn’t like ducks or children and it hated prams. It also took exception to men, dogs and umbrellas.

Abby swayed elegantly to her left.

The creature followed, executing a neatly timed two-step.

Abby’s foot struck out, toes pointed, her balance perfect.

The head snapped back.

The audience looked on admiringly.

Connor applauded.

The strange dance continued.

Why does this make me think of 'Mad Dogs and Englishmen?' I'm not sure, but I liked it! I can just see a park, sun beating down, and Abby deciding to having a dance with the... whatever.
