primeval100 Challenge 681, Catching Up
“Don’t have to outrun the bear, just the person behind you,” Lyle panted as he slithered down the slope.
“There isn’t anyone behind you,” Stephen pointed out. “And it’s not a bear, it’s an amphicyon.”
“Looks like a fucking bear… runs like a fucking bear…”
The sound of something large crashed through the undergrowth.
“Can I shoot it now?”
“No. The tranq should be taking effect soon.”
“Famous last words, mate…”
The amphicyon was so close they could hear its heavy breathing.
Lyle swung around, rifle raised, just as it collapsed at his feet.
“Told you so.”
“Fuck off, smartarse.”
