“What the fuck is it?” Becker asked.
“No idea,” Connor said. “It’s not on my database.”
“Tried looking up motherfuckin’ ugly?” one of Becker’s lads muttered.
“Beauty’s in the eye of the beholder, mate,” Tanya Lacey said. “If it wasn’t, you’d never get laid. Want me to pick it up, boss?”
Becker sighed. “Don’t let anyone say I always pick up the pretty ones.”
“Sexist comment!” Jess yelled through his earpiece.
Becker hoisted the weird mix of scales, fur and feathers into his arms.
The headlines the following day were wholly predictable.
Naturally, no one admitted to leaking the photo.
