“You could try pawning Connor,” Jess said.
“How much do you think I’d get?”
“Not enough. Have another biscuit.”
“Bad for your teeth,” Becker remarked from the doorway.
“You lose boyfriend points for that, Mr Smartarse. There’s nothing wrong with my teeth.”
“So why are you worried about the dentist?”
“I’m not. But the mammoth needs a scale and polish and we need to get a new vet to sign the Official Secrets Act.”
“Good luck with that,” Becker muttered. “I could lend you a shotgun.”
