A stone built cottage in a wood, with a log-burning stove. In walking distance of a decent pub.

Maybe even a dog that he could take running with him in the mornings.

And someone to snuggle up to on dark winter nights. Someone to laugh with. Someone to love.

Not just anyone.

A black-haired man with bedroom hair and eyes the colour of a summer sky.

Ryan knew that in this life there were no certainties, only death and taxes, and in his job the former cast an ever-present shadow, but he could still dream of a future in sunlight.
