“No.” Nick Cutter folded his arms, a mutinous expression on his face.

James Lester tried a different tactic. “I’ll send Temple, if you won’t go and heaven only knows what havoc he’ll wreak in the timelines without a minder.”

Stephen grinned. Cutter didn’t stand a chance and everyone except him could see it.

“Have a heart, man!” It was the closest Nick Cutter had ever come to wheedling, and Stephen was savouring every moment.

“I didn’t get where I am today by having a heart,” Lester snapped. “Anyway, what’s your problem?”

“The late Cretaceous in summer, that’s the bloody problem!”
