Sarah rubbed her eyes, tired and faintly irritable from a long day searching archives for more connections for Cutter’s ever-growing matrix.
A long, dark, miserable winter with hardly any time off had taken its toll.
Her phone buzzed with an incoming text.
Stephen. Anomaly closed. He was heading home.
She smiled and closed her laptop. Time to join him.
The door to her flat was open, with Stephen cross-legged on the step, his hands covered in earth.
Two large pots bursting with snowdrops and crocuses brought a huge smile to her face.
He always knew how to make her happy.
