“Tooth still bothering you, mate?” Kermit asked.
Connor, hunched miserably on the sofa in the break room, nodded.
“Dentist,” Claudia ordered. “Stop putting it off.”
Connor shook his head then winced.
“Woodlice,” Blade commented.
Everyone stared blankly at the floor.
“Woodlice. Crush ‘em and pack ‘em round the bad tooth. Nan said her mam used to swear by it. Old Yorkshire remedy.”
“Ewwwww!”
Blade shrugged. “Better than chicken shit. Just the white part, mind.”
“Tell me you’re joking,” Connor pleaded.
“Nope. Now book that bloody appointment or I’ll start raiding chicken runs and hunting woodlice.”
Connor promptly grabbed his phone.
