If you haven't watched the Captain Jack Episode, don't read this!
Well, having diligently set the DVD to record last night as we had people round, I then totally forgot to watch it until this afternoon. Brain dead or what? Anyway .........
Random thoughts in no particular order :
1. Was I the only one who found the episode very reminiscent of early Blake's 7? I'm not saying that's a bad thing. It's just something that struck me. Maybe it was Terry Nation's stuff in general that it reminded me of? Anyway, I did enjoy it.
2. It can't just be me who hopes someone will do a Doctor/Jack/The Master threesome in some form or another.? Way too many pretty men in this episode for comfort! Love John Sims.
3. Prize for best "speaking look" goes to the cute guy in the corridor that Jack flirted with. I really liked him!
4. Isn't it typically male that two blokes can only discuss emotion when they are separated by 6 inch plate steel and one of them is busily being irradiated? Even when one of the blokes is Jack, it's still true.
5. It has to have been the slashiest episode of the series. Is that why I enjoyed it?

Date: 2007-06-17 06:26 pm (UTC)1. I'd love to agree but I think Blake's 7 is one of the only things I have never ever seen... I am deprived!
2. *writes...writes some more* Is it awful that I'm doing this with barely any Master characterisation at all? I should be poked with sharp sticks or something...
3. Cute guy in corridor was very cute, I did love the Doctor's 'Oi' every time Jack spoke to someone in a suggestive way...ie spoke to someone.
4. So very typically male, though the Doctor did look stunning behind glass back-lighted in red so I'll let it slide.
5. It was and yes, and probably yes...

Date: 2007-06-17 06:37 pm (UTC)2. Hmm, characterisations? Nah, we've enough info. Slash away, my dear! History (ie the next few episodes) will almost secrtainly prove you right!
3. He really was very, very cute. Please slash him very smuttily with Jack in shameless Corridor Sex. And you're right, Jack managed to flirt with everybody, and I think (but would need to re-watch to be sure) that the Dr objected every time.
4. Yes, very artistic. And cute. I am into cute today.
5. I am shameless. And predictable. *Sighs*

Date: 2007-06-17 08:18 pm (UTC)2. There was indeed much, much pretty. And John Simm is just *squee*. I totally loved his madness and brilliance (kudos also to Derek Jacobi, who was also ace!)
3. Hee, that was so Jack. And the Doctor telling him off every time he flirted was so reminiscent of Nine telling him 'for you, hello is flirting' (or something like that) back in Bad Wolf. It was like they'd never been apart. Except, of course, they have - hence much wonderful fic!
4. So, so true. And I thought the Doctor was being a bit creepy throughout as well. Don't know if this was deliberate, but it definitely added something extra.
5. Again, yes and yes. Although, and I hate to say it, it might just have been the teeniest bit anticlimactic, after we've been waiting for it for so long *ducks as people throw heavy objects*

Date: 2007-06-17 10:13 pm (UTC)I wasn't really sure what to make of the Doctor/Jack interaction at the beginning. As you say, a bit creepy at times on the part of the Doctor, and there was clearly prejudice against Jack not being "normal", in the "not-dying" sense of normal, I mean, which made the interactio at the beginning definitely creepy. But liberal doses of radiation, and macho discussions in the face of mortal peril etc etc, seemed to have broken the ice, so wither next?
But as you say, hopeflly not into anti-climax. We have waited a long tme for this!!!

Date: 2007-06-19 07:27 am (UTC)John Simm definitely looked like he was enjoying himself a lot in those last few minutes, and I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next.
I can't comment on the Blake's 7 as I haven't seen enough of it to know. I must watch it at some point.

Date: 2007-06-19 12:46 pm (UTC)I read your comments on threesomes elsewhere, and by and large, my suspension of disbelief doesn't usually stretch that far either, so I know exactly what you mean. Although the series that we have both commented on is nicely written and fun, and I have enjoyed them. The challenge is to find a threesome situation that doesn't stretch the imagination too far, but with Jack in the mix, it would hardly be conventional, so maybe that doesn't count? But I doubt my mental prowess would stretch that far. I'll need to leave that one to Entangled_Now. If the plot bunny bites, you never know what she'll come up with, and they are always fun!
And I'm now steering people into taking a look at Blake's 7. Its a not-to-be missed classic!

Date: 2007-07-04 05:34 pm (UTC)I'm also putting in a heavy plea for Grubby Jack in Chains / Hot Young Doctor with Designer Stubble fic ...............
Please feel free to contribute to the Interesting Visual Places Post I put on my LJ where we are gathering ideas for what a few of us would like to see! The more suggestions, the merrier, and we aren't combining ourselves to one fandom, as you'll see .........
And yes, I loved John Simm in Life on Mars, and thought he made a superb Master. If he really is dead, I'll be gutted!! And the Doctor should sooo have kissed him. Oh and Jack should have kissed the Doctor. Am I obsessing here??? Whoops.

Date: 2007-07-11 10:46 pm (UTC)At last, someone here for you who loved all of Blake's 7 and yes, I thought that about Utopia as well.
"the Doctor should sooo have kissed him. Oh and Jack should have kissed the Doctor. Am I obsessing here???"
Yes you are lol, but that doesn't alter the fact that it SOO should have happened.

Date: 2007-07-13 12:31 pm (UTC)I post most of my stuff (as it tends to me mainly slash) to Primeval_fanfic, rather than Prieval_itv, although I'm a member of both, and I tend to friend people if I read there stuff or cross-post with them on general stuff, as that way, interesting stuff pops up on your f-lists most days.
I think I've just about got the hang of naviagting, but it took me 4 months to manage to get userpics and then other people had to talk me through it!!!
