The coal-black battle stallion trampled the dead and dying that littered the area before the shattered gate.
From his steed’s back, the Witch-King of Angmar surveyed the ruin wrought by hammer, sword and spell.
The citadel of the Stewards now lay open in defeat. No enemy before him had ever crossed that threshold.
The defenders quailed and ran. None could withstand the terror he wielded.
Even his own troops threw themselves to the ground in fear or ran witless on the plain.
He smiled grimly. May madness take them all. They had served their purpose.
Victory was within his grasp.
