Long leagues he has walked.
More than even he can count.
North, ever north.
Through the wide lands of Eregion.
Up hill, down dale, fording river and stream.
To the northern moors of the land his young friends called the Shire.
He slows his strides now, listening to the gossip of the birds, and the news carried on the wind.
Then he sees a crown of white blossom and hears the murmur of gentle laughter.
He knows they are here and that his journey has not been in vain.
O rowan fair, I see you shine upon a summer's day,
