“Young man, don’t make me angry.” A sharp jab from a walking stick took the place of a full stop.
Nick Cutter took a hasty step backwards.
An elderly woman with a baby raptor tucked under her arm and a penchant for umbrella punctuation hadn’t featured anywhere in the risk assessment for this shout.
The woman cackled like a hyena and added, “You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.”
Nick’s hair went from surprised to startled in a heartbeat. “I’m sure I wouldn’t.”
The raptor fluffed up its feathers, snuggled up against the woman’s woollen cardigan and looked positively smug.
