Every day he grubbed amongst the ruins for food.
Eventually, he even ate the creatures he killed and drank their blood.
Eventually, he gave up his vigil.
Eventually, he learned to live with the knowledge that his brother was not coming for him.
No one was.
Instead of being the prey, he became the predator.
He learned how to travel through the gateways.
He met others and even learned how to love again.
But then she left him, too.
