“It could be worse, cherub,”
“How?” Lyle enquired.
“There could be a mammoth on the carriageway.”
“That’d be more entertaining than an overturned tanker.”
Lester gave him the sort of smile Lyle had last seen on a Moray eel in a sea cave in Scotland. “No point in crying over spilt milk, sweetpea.”
Lyle glared and grabbed the blue light off the back seat.
“Does this really constitute a national security emergency, my impatient little pygmy shew?”
“Yes, it fucking well does. Cutter’s buying the drinks tonight in the Black Swan and I’m not missing that!”
“Good point, well made.”
