primeval100 challenge 804, Unfortunate Coincidence (using the poetry prompt).
She meant it at the time, she really did.
He was on track to be one of the youngest academics in the country to be offered a chair.
So it made sense to put his career ahead of her own.
Of course it did.
But resentment is an insidious thing.
She loathed being overlooked at faculty parties.
She grew to hate being introduced as Mrs Cutter instead of Dr Ambrose.
She couldn’t ignore the dismissal of her research.
Rows became more frequent but the making up was spectacular.
They still said I love you.
But one of them was lying.
