The silver dome of the temple was blackened by smoke from the burning boughs of Nimloth the Fair.

Fire kindled with malice and hatred, flames searing any that dared draw close.

The captives stood in line; men and women proclaiming their innocence of the charges laid against them.

They were denounced as traitors and hurled onto the pyre.

The White Tree granted them what kindness she could, wreathing their lungs in smoke and dulling their pain, bringing a swift end to torment.

But in the days to come, there was little kindness to be found when crueller fires burned fiercely.

I was struck by your idea that even dying Nimloth manages to spare her fellow victims some pain!
But it is a cruel scene.
