Nimloth knew wearing that ill-fated necklace was a mistake, but her husband would not be gainsaid.

With the Nauglamir about his neck, Dior shone as the fairest of them all.

His bright flame drew the sons of Fëanor as moths to a flame and war came again to Doriath.

In the Menegroth, Thingol’s heir fell and his wife fell beside him.

His children were taken into the forest; of their fate, no tale now tells.

Yet despite the second Kinslaying, the Silmaril remained out of the grasp of those who desired to seize it in fulfilment of their doomed oath.
