Nick leaned back from the breakfast table. “Thanks, Felix, I couldn’t eat another morsel.”
Helen eyed her ex-husband’s somewhat ample stomach. “You could always try leaving some if you’re full.”
Nick stared at the food left on her plate and intoned, “Waste is a sin.”
Before Felix had chance to whisk the plates away, an enormous ginger cat skidded in through the kitchen door, jumped up on the table and started scoffing the leftovers.
“Where the hell did that come from?” Nick asked, casting his eyes upwards.
“Meet Tiddles,” the Duty Manager said. “I’m sure you’ll all get on very well!”
