primeval100 challenge 822, Smooth Sailing
“Come in number 6, your time is up!” Connor yelled across the lake to an imaginary rowing boat.
“Number 9, are you in trouble?” Abby called.
Connor’s irrepressible enthusiasm was infectious. For once, she gave herself permission to relax and pretend that they weren’t dealing with a potentially life-threatening situation.
Two hours later, the small lake was still utterly tranquil.
The final dives had been uneventful. Not even any weird slimy things.
The anomaly seemed to have opened and closed too quickly for anything to have come through.
“Smooth sailing for once,” Cutter said, smiling. “Let’s call it a day.”
