Abby stared at the mess of wires on the floor. “Which definition of fine are we applying this time?”

“The one that says he hasn’t blown anything up yet?” Stephen suggested.

Connor looked up from underneath the table and promptly banged his head. “Oi, not doing much for my confidence!”

“The minister will be here in 15 minutes,” Jenny said.

“It’ll be ready!”

“What a delightful view of the pyramids.” Lester’s voice could have cut glass. “But get this irritating sand swept up.”

Connor winced.

“I shall delay the wretched man. You have another hour, Mr Temple.”
