“You’re certain the anomaly goes to the right time period?”
Connor shrugged. “As certain as I can be. I’ve been getting consistent readings. Thirteen thousand years ago, give or take.”
“The habitat is perfect,” Abby offered. “Open landscape, plenty of rich grasses, a river.”
“Humans to hunt him,” Lester murmured. “Climate change looming. Much like now, when I come to think of it.”
“The anomaly is still stable, James.” Matt glanced at the clock on the wall. “But based on Connor’s predictions, we’ll soon be out of time.”
Lester sighed. “Do it.”
An hour later, the mammoth steadfastly refused repatriation.
