The bedraggled child stared up at them, eyes swimming with tears.
Abby knelt down and smiled. “Can you tell us your friends are?”
The girl pointed to a hole in the wall. “In Narnia. We just went exploring.”
A sudden flurry of snowflakes swirled through the jagged bricks and left a wet mark on the warm pavement.
A paramedic wrapped a blanket round the girl’s shoulders and bundled her into the waiting ambulance.
“One down, three to go,” Stephen said.
“Never did trust Mr Tumnus,” Abby muttered. “Creepy sod.”
“Cynic.”
She grinned. “If someone offers you Turkish delight, say no.”
