In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan

Nick Cutter belted out the words in a surprisingly tuneful baritone.

Beside him, Claudia smiled as the voices of the congregation soared up into the roof of the ancient church

Outside the walls the wind gusted and trumpeted making her shiver inside her thick coat.

Nick’s quiet mutter of “Oh shit,” sent another shiver down her spine.

What can I give him?

“Give him a fucking mince pie or something!” she heard Ryan bellow from outside with impeccable timing.

“It’s a baby mammoth, not a bloody carol singer!” Stephen retorted equally loudly.
