Stephen glanced up from his laptop screen. “Trees.”

Abby chewed the end of her pen before finally muttering, “Angst.”

Blade favoured everyone in the break room with a particularly wolfish smile. “Murder.”

Lyle grinned. “Says everyone’s favourite psycho.”

Only the lieutenant’s preternaturally fast reflexes enabled him to dodge the casually thrown knife that thudded into the kitchen door a handsbreadth from where he’d been standing.

“No weapons in the break room!” Ryan ordered. “What the fuck are you lot on about now?”

“We’re reviewing Scandi crime books, boss” Finn said. “Lester says we need some cerebral hobbies.”
