“Tea, sir?” Finn called as Lester passed the breakroom door. “Kettle’s just boiled.”

Lester bit back a cutting response. The young sniper meant well, and Lester had cause to be grateful for his quick reactions and steady hands.

“Thank you, Rob. How’s your ankle?”

“Fine. Ditz says I’ll be back on rotation tomorrow.”

A moment later, a tray appeared on the coffee table bearing a porcelain mug of tea and a small plate with several biscuits.

Lester took a cautious sip, then allowed himself an appreciative sigh.

Tea was the very foundation of civilisation, something long overdue in the ARC.
