Aragorn sighed. “Have I set my heart on too bright a star, my friends?”

“Most certainly,” Elladan agreed.

Elrohir nodded. “She is far too good for one such as you.”

“She has a fierce father,” his brother added.

“And an even fiercer grandmother.”

“Think not to shelter behind the love we bear you.”

“We do not love you that much.”

Pure mischief danced in their grey eyes and their tone was soft.

“I have a flagon of wine in my saddlebag,” Aragorn offered.

“That makes all the difference,” they chorused. “We will not hear a word against you, dear Estel!”
