“This fanciful nonsense has gone on long enough.” Dr Caroline Debrett, new head of Science crossed her arms in the universal body language of someone who has Had Enough.

“I’ll send a memo,” Lester drawled. “Ms Wickes, an all-staff email re ghosts, non-existence thereof.”

“Shall I include our spectral staff?”

Dr Debrett slammed her hand down. “I don’t believe they really exist. Pandering to this nonsense is unhealthy!”

Stephen waved an insubstantial hand and scattered papers across the desk.

Ryan, lounging against the wall, grinned as Cutter walked straight through the door.

“Behave!” Lester ordered. “No, not you, Dr Debrett…”
