“S!” Connor announced when the letter generator on his phone delivered the latest challenge
“I spy with my little eye something beginning with S,” Kermit guessed.
“Sky,” Blade said in the unimpressed tones of the terminally bored.
“Nope.”
“Stones?” Stephen hazarded.
“Nice try, no dice.”
Cutter looked up from his notebook at the dark canopy overhead. “Scots Pines?”
“Nope.”
“Spoon.” Abby’s smug grin faded at an even smugger headshake. “So tell us.”
“Stegosaurus!” Connor yelled.
Boredom instantly banished, EMDs and M16s snapped up.
“Thank fuck,” Kermit muttered. “I was beginning to think we’d get trampled before one of you noticed.”
