“How long have the wolves been here?” Abby asked.
The elderly gamekeeper shrugged. “Maybe, twenty years give or take. They never done any harm. Takes the occasional deer, they do, but thems need culling anyhow, so the pack do the job for us.”
Stephen looked at the photos, a smile on his face. “They’re a handsome lot.”
The man nodded. “And they keeps themselves to themselves. If it hadn’t been for them damn busybodies camping without a by-your-bloody-leave, I wouldn’t have you lot breathing down my neck.”
Abby smiled. “Don’t worry. We’ll tell them they’ve trespassed on a rewilding initiative.”
