“Good luck dealing with ‘er up the road,” the harassed police sergeant muttered. “She’s bloody furious about them nippy little ponies munching on her prize-winning dahlias.”
Claudia smiled reassuringly. “Don’t worry, we have a secret weapon for use in these circumstances.”
“Ketamine?”
“Only as a last resort.” Claudia turned to where the team were loading the last of the Eohippus herd into the back of the animal transport vehicle. “Stephen, could I borrow you?”
Stephen jogged over; all bed hair, high cheekbones, blue eyes and devastating smile.
The sergeant grinned.
“The lady at number 47 needs pacifying, please,” Claudia said.
