“What’s the betting pool say?” Nick asked as he stared up at the anomaly hovering approximately 150 metres above the chalk uplands of the South Downs.

“Most popular is some sort of pterosaur,” Stephen told him.

Abby grinned. “Finn’s gone left field and put a fiver on a gorgonopsid.”

Ryan rolled his eyes. “Finn would.”

“He did win big on the wooly mammoth in the Solent.”

“Incoming!” Connor yelled.

The anomaly shimmered. Then something small and round plummeted into the catch net.

The net was lowered to the ground and Stephen delivered the verdict, “It’s a bowl of fucking petunias!”
