“Get that spotted menace out of here!” The aristocratic tones of the Chair of the Little Goring-by-the-Sea Women’s Institute rang out through the marquee.
And as the team had just discovered, she had a impressive command of a wide range of expletives and insults.
The hyena cub frolicked happily through the flower displays, sending prize-winning blooms flying everywhere in a riot of colour.
Stephen made a grab for the animal.
The cub dived into the delphiniums then scrabbled from one table to the next, eluding capture every time.
Connor grinned. “I bet he’s going to come up smelling of roses!”
