Nick sipped the surprisingly decent fizzy wine he’d been handed on arrival and listened to an equally surprisingly accurate explanation of the Ichthyotitan holotype specimen, BRSMG Cg3178, displayed for the first time.

Sat his side, its 15-year-old discoverer was practically vibrating with excitement, ponytail bouncing and a grin the size of the Cheshire Cat’s on her face.

Right on cue, Nick’s phone vibrated in his pocket.

A message from Stephen flashed up on his screen: You’re not going to believe this.
