The audience gasped as a star burst into brilliant light above the school stage.
“Wonderful effects!” the vicar murmured. “So clever!”
An equally surprised Joseph led a lumbering donkey onto the stage, Mary perched on its back, clutching an old rag doll masquerading as the baby Jesus.
“Are donkeys meant to have three toes?” one of the parents asked loudly.
Joseph knocked on the door of the inn. “A room for two, please!”
The innkeeper poked his head around the door and declaimed loudly: “We’re full, fuck off!”
Claudia winced.
An anomaly, a protohippus and an arsey innkeeper.
