“When dealing with our transatlantic counterparts, I have a lot of sympathy with that oversized reptile,” Lester declared, snapping his laptop closed with extreme prejudice.
“You’ve watched Godzilla?”
“Yes, Mr Temple, I’ve watched Godzilla.”
“Movie night! Watching New York get stomped again’ll do you good.”
Connor looked so excited at the prospect that for once Lester didn’t have the heart to say refuse.
Much later, with Connor sprawled out on the sofa next to him, Lester reached for his wineglass and murmured, “We can watch Independence Day tomorrow. I have something of a grudge against the White House, as well.”
