Becker’s internal clock attempted to wake him up, as it did every day, with a firm polite nudge to his consciousness.

When that didn’t work, it applied the mental equivalent of a swift kick to the nuts.

Becker rolled over and came to his feet in one smooth movement.

Five minutes later, showered, shaved and dressed, Becker spared a quick glance at his reflection in the full length mirror behind the door and allowed himself a momentary smile of smug satisfaction.

He was entitled to be smug.

Matt Anderson could go fuck himself.

Black was best.

And black was back.
