Ryan fervently hoped that today’s creature would be large, slow and bright green.
But knowing his luck, any visitors would be small and russet; completely fucking indistinguishable from the gold and brown autumn leaves covering the school playground.
The anomaly flared brightly.
The leaves rustled ominously.
“Incoming!” Connor declared.
To Ryan’s delight, a scutosaurus lumbered through.
The creature sniffed the damp air, then executed a ponderous U-turn to head back to its own time, expressing displeasure with a vigorous shake of its stumpy tail followed by a loud fart.
Maybe this would be a good day to play the lottery…
