“Check into a hotel,” Lester instructed over the team comms. “Everywhere is gridlocked with snow and there’s more to come overnight. And yes, your bar bills can go on expenses.”
“You’re the best, guv!” Danny declared. “There’s a nice pub in the village that does B&B.”
Lester winced and cut the connection. “There goes my contingency fund.”
“You’re not going to be getting home tonight, either, sir,” commented Ranjit, the duty technician for the weekend. “It’s been pitching out there for ages.”
“Fortunately the canteen staff cooked enough turkey today to feed a small army.”
“And ours is stuck in north Yorkshire!”
