Lester peeled his sopping wet clothing off in disgust, dropping it to the floor.

He did a desk job, for God’s sake. Government hatchet men did not end up in ditches full of freezing cold, rank-smelling mud.

But, at least he hadn’t been peed on by an oversized herbivore, unlike some people he could name.

However, the soldier had managed to beat him to the showers, and was busily hogging all the hot water.

Lester slid in beside him.

Ryan grinned. “Never did like watersports.”

“And here was I thinking you liked adventure, Captain,” said Lester, with exaggerated smoothness.
