Summary : Written for pexylexy for the primeval_denial challenge:drabble, for the prompt, Stephen/Lyle + “Just because I can”. This sort of fits in the Silk and Steel verse, but no prior knowledge needed and contains no references to collars!

Ryan watched as the two men headed out onto the range.

It was bloody obvious to anyone with half a brain that they were going end up either as enemies or lovers, and today would probably be the decider.

He’d tried asking Lyle why he took every opportunity to wind Hart up. The flippant answer, “Just because I can,” hadn’t exactly surprised him. Lyle had been absent without leave when subtlety had been handed out.

He’d told Lyle to end the pissing contest, and end it now.

The silly sod had chosen rifles.

This was going to be worth watching.
