Summary : Written for [livejournal.com profile] missyvortexdv for the [livejournal.com profile] primeval_denial  challenge:drabble, prompt Jenny + shooting

There were times when Jenny wondered if she’d ever forget his face.

There were times when she hoped she never would.

She’d not wanted to know his name. Nor had she wanted to know if he’d left behind a woman to mourn him, or children who still cried for their father.

She’d acted on instinct, bringing up the rifle and firing. She’d done it to save herself.

And the others.

She reminded herself of that when the memories became too much.

There were even times when she felt it excused what she’d done.

But now wasn’t one of those times.

I was thinking about this the other day, when the ep was on. She didn't really seem that bothered by what she'd done at the time - and shooting a person is a little different to shooting clay pigeons!

Lovely drabble.

Agreeing with the other commenters - a nice piece of gap filling.

Very nice. A missing scene that was needed.

*huggles Jenny* Yes, it would hit her later. She's not nearly as hard-nosed as she pretends to be.

I can see it affecting her like that, afterwards.

Oh Jenny... *hugs her*

That's some powerful writing and a very sobering thought.

Wow. Brilliant. That really struck me when I watched the ep the other day. It was like OMG she killed a man!! She did a good job of a briefly shocked person, then she did the line about pony club and clay pigeon shooting.
This was terrific. Really captures her strength but human vulnerability in equal measure, very Jenny.
Wow! Think she'd want a hug? *g*

Poor gal. Next time I should go for happy inducing prompt, she gets too much angst really. I am curious, what he was oing that meant need for shooting? Acting dumb I presume but still wish I knew.

Ah, I'd missed the bit that said it related to 2.07 - now I get it! :)

That was good. I always thought that whole bit in the episode was treated a bit too lightly - this isn't a creature, it was a man that she shot. Even in self defense that has to have consequences.

I love when the reality of emotions/consequences is tackled in fanfic - that's one of the joys of it. Fantastic job.

Wow that is really deep right there! In such a short space you have managed to show both emotions that run parallel in situations like this! I really feel for Jenny in this. It's hard knowing that despite saving yourself as well as those you are protecting you have also killed someone else who used to be someone's child. Great job with this and thank you so much for directing me to this!
